Technical and Safety Manager Vacancy - Closing date 16th March 2012

UKLPG are now inviting applicants for the role of Technical and Safety Manager.

UKLPG is the trade association for the UK’s LP Gas industry which markets butane and propane to residential, agricultural, industrial and commercial customers in bulk or cylinders, as well as supplying fuel for automotive use.

UKLPG seeks a Technical and Safety Manager to be responsible for working with members to set industry technical standards and represent the industry with regard technical and safety aspects with external stakeholders. The Technical and safety manager will offer leadership and guidance to members, whilst understanding their operational and customer needs in particular in the fields of cylinder gas, bulk LPG transport and supply, and Autogas.

The job holder must be able to develop a broad appreciation of the LPG industry, its aspirations and business focus, and understand technical needs within this context. They must have excellent organisational, communication and advocacy skills. An ability to think strategically whilst identifying key policy detail impact is necessary. The ability to balance the needs of diverse members and represent their interests will also be core to this role.

We would expect the applicant to hold a science or engineering degree or an equivalent qualification and will probably be a Member of an appropriate Chartered professional institution. The candidate should have experience of working within the energy, chemical or engineering sector, ideally obtained within the LPG or gas industries.

The job will be based in the UKLPG office in Kenilworth, Warwickshire and involve regular UK, European and occasional worldwide travel.
