UKLPG Announce Changes to Code of Practice 1
UKLPG is delighted to announce changes to its Code of Practice 1 on Bulk LPG storage at fixed installations.
The four part structure has been maintained but Part 2 has been extensively rewritten so that it provides a separate, specific, COP for smaller vessels being installed in premises subject to GSIUR (domestic and similar). Its title (Vapour Offtake Small Bulk Propane Installations) reflects its new intent and the Scope makes clear its applicability:up to three above ground vessels each not exceeding 1,1 tonnes Propane capacity; up to three buried or mounded vessels each not exceeding 2,2 tonnes Propane capacity. As well as being more descriptive it includes significant changes in the guidance on adjacent fencing.
Parts 1 (Design, Installation and Operation of Vessels Located Above Ground) and 4 (Buried / Mounded LPG Storage Vessels) still cover installations at such premises using larger or more vessels, those at operational and industrial sites and those in liquid service, but opportunity has been taken to issue amendments to both to align with Part 2 wherever possible.
Part 3 (Examination and Inspection ) has been extensively revised to give additional guidance on Written Schemes of Examination at domestic and similar premises.
All four parts continue to include HSE’s formal Foreword endorsing the Codes.
The revised Parts 2 and 3 cost £40 and £45 and can be ordered from UKLPG’s website. Normal member’s discounts apply. Amendments to parts 1 and 4 can be downloaded from this website free of charge.
