The Competition Commission Order for the Supply of Bulk LPG for Domestic Use* has now been published and will come into effect on 13th April 2009. The Order puts into place certain processes that the Competition Commission believes will improve the domestic customer and supplier relationship, and aims to provide a better competitive environment for the industry.
More specifically, it creates a future framework for the industry should a domestic customer wish to switch their supplier (including setting out a tank transfer process); it requires the provision of clear information to domestic customers in relation to their right to switch; and reduces exclusivity of supply in a contract to a maximum of 2 years.
UKLPG as the trade association for the industry has been cooperating fully with the Competition Commission and believes that the outcome will contribute further to maintaining domestic customer satisfaction.
Over the next 6 months UKLPG will be adding information to its website specifically for domestic LPG consumers.
*The order does not apply to commercial, industrial or metered estate customers. |
