The term metered estate refers to the situation when a customer is supplied, via a meter, from a shared tank or tanks with other domestic customers.
Switching
When a metered estate switches supply this also involves the transfer of ownership of the metered estate infrastructure. This makes the process for switching a metered estate complex and is likely to take several months, and generally the larger and more complex the metered estate, the longer the switching process is expected to take.

Who Can Switch?
If you have an individual contract with a supplier, all those customers supplied by the metered estate will need to:
· Unanimously agree to switch
· Be eligible to switch (out with their contracts exclusivity period)
If you are a metered estate manager (this is the person that holds the contract with an LPG supplier for all the LPG that is supplied to the metered estate—often the owner of a holiday park) you can switch as long as you are eligible.
In both cases you must write to your existing supplier, providing the name of the supplier you would like to switch to. It would be sensible first to check with a new supplier if it is interested in supplying you before you ask for your existing contract to be terminated. Please be aware that a new supplier is not obliged to accept a new customer and they may have a number of reasons why they cannot offer to supply you.
