The UK was one of the first countries to acknowledge the financial and security threats of climate change and act on it, and as a result, the Clean Growth Strategy was launched, laying out the Government’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80 percent by 2050.

As Glastonbury opens its doors to around 175,000 festival goers this week, portable LPG, or liquefied petroleum gas, will be an essential ingredient for the festivities, with most of the festival’s 400 plus caterers cooking on gas. Consistent and reliable, the low carbon fuel is top choice for street food vendors and mobile caterers throughout the UK, who consume around 700,000 cylinders of LPG a year.

The popularity of street food has helped fuel rapid growth in the outdoor catering sector. According to Nationwide Caterers’ Association (NCASS), there are currently just under 10,000 outdoor catering operators in the UK, running 13,000 outlets, consuming up to 700,000 cylinders of LPG a year, with rapid growth in street catering attributed to seasonal markets, farmers’ markets and festivals.
